LGBTQ+ Affirming Therapy

The combination of a heteronormative society and the real-life consequences of being LGBTQ has kept many from disclosing their identity and make it difficult to live fully – especially in Texas.

Maybe you only realized that you have these feelings.  Or maybe you’ve always known, but you couldn’t act on them.

You might even be in a mixed-orientation relationship, and your partner has no idea. Maybe you’ve never told anyone about this part of you.  You might have mixed feelings about it, and maybe you even feel like the things you want are out of reach.

Or maybe you just need help with anxiety, depression, anger, or other mental health issues. You might just need a therapist who gets you, so you don’t have to spend half of your session educating your therapist.

Don’t wait to start your life.  Plano based LGBTQ+ affirming therapy can help. Let’s explore who you really are and what you want.  It feels scary, but you don’t have to see the whole path to take the first step.

Neurodiversity

Your differences are not deficits.  You’re brain simply works differently.  Humanity is diverse, with people falling along a spectrum.  The same is true of our brains.  There is a spectrum of neuro-types and an even a spectrum within each neurotype.

Being labeled as high functioning can have the effect of ignoring your challenges, while being labeled as low functioning often ignores your assets.

We all have assets, and your differences should be accommodated – not viewed as defective or something that should be changed.  Neurodivergent-affirming therapy in Frisco, Texas can help autistic adults and ADHDers embrace neurodivergence and live more authentically while figuring out solutions to their challenges.

Maybe you are contemplating leaving your religion.  Or maybe you already did, but the trauma remains.

Maybe you’re looking for a way to process your religious upbringing create community and rituals to replace those you left behind.

It’s not easy to find secular therapists in Frisco, Texas, so we have created a secular therapy space free of moral judgment or religious undertones.

So bring your religious trauma, and let’s process it.

Relationship Recovery

Recovering from the loss of a significant relationship can be incredibly difficult and takes time to heal.

Whether the loss is an intimate partner, metamour, queerplatonic partner, or a family member, this is a safe place to process your sadness, anger, confusion, fear, rejection, and other emotions as you recover from the loss of a significant relationship.

  • Take a deep dive into your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.

Asexuality: The Invisible Orientation

You’re not defective or broken.  You probably don’t need hormones or to “meet the right person.”  Sex is just not a thing for some people.

The strict definition of asexuality is not experiencing sexual attraction, but how do you know if you belong to a club of people who don’t see blue if you can’t see blue?

This is especially confusing when you also consider that there are multiple types of attraction (aesthetic, romantic, etc.) and that asexuality falls along a spectrum with many nuances.

Low desire, particularly in women in hetero relationships, is often pathologized.  There are a lot of contributors to low desire, including asexuality!

More info: Asexual Allosexual Mixed Orientation Relationships

Even LGBTQ-informed therapists often lack specific knowledge about asexuality.  If you’re Ace and are struggling with asexuality or the impact of asexuality on your life and relationships, it can be important to find an LGBTQ+ affirming therapist who specializes in asexuality.
